The Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia, gives gifts to their touring artists. We were thrilled when they called upon Mark to carve a guitar with a hockey stick neck for Carrie Underwood! Sculpted out of cherry wood, the guitar is styled after her favorite guitar, and the hockey stick neck represents her husband Mike Fisher who plays for the Nashville Predators. The gorgeous piece is sanded to a silky smooth finish and coated in clear spar urethane. As time passes, the cherry wood will darken to a rich, warm color. On the back of the guitar, Mark engraved Carrie’s name and her husband’s name and hockey number.
These two sculptures were made for the owner of Big Secret in Richmond as a surprise wedding present for his wife. We delivered the sculptures to Smith Mountain Lake for their wedding, and now they are guarding the entrance to the newlywed’s home near Richmond.
