New refined rustic side tables

When art has an everyday function, life is that much sweeter. Introducing Mark's new side tables! These tables are so multi-functional, they both run with the crowd and stands out at the same time. Where can you use one, you ask? How about... [cue auctioneer chant]...Next to a bed, a couch, a chair, a bench, on the deck, the patio, the porch, in the garden, the workshop, the man cave, the she shed, the office, tucked in a reading nook, placed near the the grill, the campfire, the party,...

A guitar for Carrie Underwood

A guitar for Carrie Underwood

Last night, Mark and I, along with the marketing staff at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, presented the "Hockitar" to it's new owner, Carrie Underwood! The civic center always gives gifts to touring artists. They called upon Mark to carve this custom guitar with a hockey stick neck. Mark burned onto the back of the guitar her name and her husband's name and hockey number (#12 Mike Fisher with the Nashville Predators). Thanks to the Berglund marketing staff, we met Carrie before the show,...

California big bear

A client in California wanted a 6-1/2-foot brown bear for his home. It's one thing to have a great big bear standing outside but imaging having one inside! Very cool.

‘Tis the season for pumpkins and pine trees

‘Tis the season for pumpkins and pine trees

Every year from mid-September through mid-December, Mark carved oodles of pumpkins and pine trees. They are made from poplar and cedar wood and left in their natural state. The cedar wood smells amazing! They made great gifts for friends and family and look great as indoor and outdoor decor (entryways, mantles, hearths, landings, porches, gardens). The natural pumpkins are $35, the torched pumpkins are $40 and the pine trees are $45. View the gallery page.

Gallery at Rockfish Gap Country Store

Gallery at Rockfish Gap Country Store

We had always heard about the antique and home and garden decor store at Rockfish Gap. We boosted our exposure last fall by renting space in the store. They had a beautiful, large wood table in the loft space, and we filled it with Mark's wood sculptures. The table displayed bears, eagles, owls, hawks, roosters, a pair of cattle horns, a shark, and a pair of ammonite shells. Mark also set a big black bear out in front of the store. That big fellow draw a lot of attention!

Texas Longhorns

Texas Longhorns

We're starting to do more smaller sculptures which make a statement as table centerpieces in any room of the house or on entryway consoles, on a hearth, on a patio, anywhere you can imagine. This decorative pair was carved from Poplar wood and are styled after the Texas Longhorn. We've been moving them around the house and love how great they look whether they are the main focus or flank another centerpiece or decorative object.

Ammonites and Sharks

Lately, Mark has been interested in sea life sculpture. This shark and these ammonites are first in what I'd guess will be a long-running subject matter. They are also all for sale on Etsy.
