Brown and Black Bears, Group 1

These are Mark’s first chainsaw carved brown and black bears. You can see his trademark style starting to take shape. Each one is unique and holds a special place in our hearts! The tradition of naming each bear began with Totem, the very first one carved on a cold, winter day in 2011.

On the next several bears, Mark experimented with facial details, fur texture, finishing techniques, and various sizes and poses. He also started to research what tools and kits work best. It definitely took more than just a chainsaw. He found specialized carving bars and kits, and started collecting various chainsaws. It helped that his sister owns Amherst Lawn and Garden and is a Husqvarna dealer. Another tool that became extremely useful was the angle grinder with saw chain cutters.
